Service Area
Located in beautiful Whatcom County, approximately two hours north of Seattle, North Whatcom Fire & Rescue provides fire protection and emergency medical services to over 25,000 citizens. Our response area covers 147 square miles and consists largely of residential, agricultural and commercial areas including several United States/Canadian Border crossings, a portion of the Interstate-5 corridor, and two large marinas.
North Whatcom Fire and Rescue has recently completed a functional consolidation with Whatcom County Fire District #4. Together, the serivice area covers one hundred eighty-two square miles serving an additional nine thousand one hundred-forty residents.
The City of Blaine is the largest city in the district and is one of the fastest growing areas within the State of Washington. The City of Blaine includes two marinas, two border crossing stations, and Interstate 5 running parallel to and acting as a feeder into the city. In addition, the City of Blaine will be a “stepping off point” for the 2010 Olympics slated for the City of Vancouver, in British Columbia, Canada.
